With one of the most historical and consequential presidential elections only days away, we recognize the progress embodied in having Kamala Harris, the first woman of color to ever be on a major party ballot and potentially the first vice president but also acknowledge the questions, skepticism, and challenges that remain in our the future of our political system. In this panel—and in the midst of a global pandemic and movement to end racial injustice—we will turn to millennial women of color leaders in politics and activism to explore the vital role of women and people of color in politics and at the polls in influencing the change we want to see in America, as well as the importance of representation, accountability, community, and civic participation. We will ask: How can we ensure we are properly represented, hold our leaders accountable—and make sure our voices are truly heard?
